| Description | The TA will prepare an investment project for establishment of industrial tree plantations. The Project scope will comprise: (i) provisioin of a credit facility for smallholders and private enterprises; (ii) investment in rural infrastructure; (iii) agroforestry component; and (iv) project management approach. | |||
| Objectives and Scope | The objective of the TA is to prepare an investment project that will improve livelihoods of the rural population through tree plantation. It will build on the successes and lessons learned from the ongoing L1295-LAO: Industrial Tree Plantation Project and identify opportunities and appropriate methodologies for extending tree plantation to poorer groups. The scope will cover Bolikhamxai, Champassak, Khammouan, Saravane, Savannakhet, Vientiane Prefecture, and Vientiane Province. The TA will develop a project framework that (i) provides income generation opportunities to improve livelihoods of rural communities; (ii) increases private sector participation in commercial plantation; (iii) rehabilitates degraded forest land area through plantation; and (iv) strengthens the capacity of the extension system to support tree plantation and agroforestry. | |||
