The RETA supported the Conference on Strengthening Economic and Social Integration of South Asia held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 30-31 May. The Conference discussed policy recommendations to the SAARC Summit Meeting to be held in August. Workshops were held in September 2008, April 2009, June 2009, December 2009 to select study proposals to be financed. As of December 2009, 14 study proposals were approved.
Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy The RETA is consistent with ADB's Regional Cooperation and Integration (RCI) Strategy, particularly in terms of Regional and Subregional Economic Cooperation Programs (Cross-Border Infrastructure and Related Software), Trade and Investment Cooperation and Integration, and Cooperation in Regional Public Goods because it will produce studies to facilitate these programs and cooperation in a timely manner. The RETA is in line with ADB's support for regional public goods as well.
