| Environmental Aspects |
Improved sanitation infrastructure will reduce pollution of environmental receivers such as aquifers, water courses or the sea, thus improving water quality and public health.
|
| Stakeholder Communication, Participation and Consultation |
| During Project Design |
The Project has been prepared in close consultation with city sanitation working teams (CSWT) that were established by the participating city governments. The CSWTs assisted with the selection of target groups during the conduct of socioeconomic surveys and focus group discussions, adn provided feedback and information to stakeholders and the executing agency (EA).
|
| During Project Implementation |
During project implementation the CSWTs, int he form of city coordinating committees, will continue to play an important part by providing recommendations to the city government's concerning the planning and design of proposed sanitation projects, particularly regarding the selection of community-based sanitation components. In Indonesia, NGOs have historically played an important part in providing community infrastructure and the Project will involved such organizations from the start, particularly in the planning and implementation of community-based sanitation projects.
