Description ADB will provide support for the investment program in the form of a multitranche financing facility (MFF). Such support provides a platform for financial and expert
assistance, blending reform and capacity development with investments.

The ADB supported subset of the investment program to be financed from Tranche 5 will cover targeted capital works designed to improve efficiency through loss reduction and to enhance supply reliability in all DISCOMs. Subprojects will include (a) a rollout of a HVDS; (b) provisions for automatic remote meter reading and distribution transformer metering for energy auditing purposes; (c) renovation of substation protection systems, installation of capacitor banks and general substation renovation and modernization; (d) construction of new substations and increasing substation transformer capacity; (e) construction of new distribution lines an upgrading of existing lines; and (f) expansion of village lighting schemes (feeder separation schemes). 		Part A (DISCOM-C). For Part A, the Projects physical progress is 49.8% against elapsed loan period of 41% as of 31 December 2010. All 11 contracts have been signed and implementation is ongoing.

Part B (DISCOM-E). For Part B, the Projects physical progress is 45.6% compared against elapsed loan period of 41% as of 31 December 2010. All 7 contracts have been signed and implementation is ongoing.

Part C (DISCOM-W). For Part C, the Projects physical progress is 34.6% against elapsed loan period of 41% as of 31 December 2010. 11 contracts have been signed and implementation is ongoing, while procurement for two contracts (PPR-34 & 35) for distribution system strengthening is underway.
